One of my favorite things about living in Ephrata is that it still feels like a real community.

You can walk through downtown, support a local business, grab coffee, run into someone you know, and spend an evening outside with friends and neighbors. That is a big part of what makes Ephrata feel like home.

This summer, Mainspring of Ephrata is bringing back First Saturday, a monthly downtown event series built around local businesses, food, music and community. The first event of the 2026 summer season is coming up on Saturday, June 6, and it is a great excuse to spend an afternoon and evening downtown.

June First Saturday: Wine Walk and Live Music in Downtown Ephrata

The June First Saturday event kicks off with the 4th Annual Wine Walk from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

Local wineries and distilleries will be set up inside downtown brick-and-mortar businesses, giving visitors a chance to walk Main Street, explore local shops and enjoy tastings along the way. It is the kind of event that helps people discover businesses they may have driven by a hundred times but never stopped into.

There will also be live music at Whistle Stop Plaza as the Wine Walk begins, followed by an evening celebration on the plaza with food vendors, craft vendors, beverages and more live entertainment.

Why Events Like First Saturday Matter in Ephrata

When people think about moving, they usually start with the basics. Number of bedrooms. Yard size. School district. Commute. Purchase price.

All of that matters, but it is not the entire story.

Where you live is also about what happens outside your front door. It is about whether there are local restaurants and coffee shops you enjoy. It is about having places to walk, things to do, and community events that make a town feel alive.

That is one of the reasons I love Ephrata.

Ephrata has its own identity. There is history here, but there is also energy. Downtown events like First Saturday bring people together, support small businesses and create the kind of summer evenings that make you appreciate living locally.

You do not always need to drive into Lancaster or travel somewhere far away to enjoy a great weekend. Sometimes the best plans are right down the street.

A Good Afternoon Plan for First Saturday in Ephrata

If you are planning to attend the June event, I would make an afternoon out of it.

Start downtown during the Wine Walk and take your time visiting some of the businesses along Main Street. Grab a bite to eat, browse the vendors, and then settle in at Whistle Stop Plaza for the evening music and atmosphere.

Even if you are not participating in the Wine Walk, the evening portion is a great opportunity to meet up with friends, support local vendors and enjoy downtown Ephrata during one of the best times of the year.

And as someone who usually has my border collie, Harper, close by, I always appreciate events and spaces that make it easy to get outside and enjoy the town you live in.

More Summer Events Coming to Ephrata in 2026

First Saturday is not just a one-time event. Mainspring has additional summer dates planned in downtown Ephrata:

  • June 6: Wine Walk and summer kickoff

  • July 3: Special First Saturday date celebrating America’s 250th birthday

  • August 1: First Saturday summer event

  • September 5: First Saturday summer event

Ephrata also has a special historical event coming later in June. On Saturday, June 27, Historic Ephrata Cloister will host Ephrata Cloister 1776: An America250 Celebration from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The Ephrata Cloister played an important role during the Revolutionary War, serving as a hospital for soldiers from December 1777 through June 1778. The June 27 event will give visitors an opportunity to learn more about that history and the impact it had on the Ephrata community.

Between downtown events, local businesses and places like the Historic Ephrata Cloister, there is a lot happening in Ephrata this summer.

Thinking About Living in Ephrata?

I call Ephrata home, and one of the things I appreciate most is the sense of community here. It is a town where you can enjoy local events, support local businesses, stay connected to history and still have convenient access to the rest of Lancaster County.

Whether you already live in Ephrata, are thinking about moving here, or are considering selling your home, I would be glad to help you understand the local real estate market and your options.
